Barmitzvahs
Cheque not big enough!

Recently I was invited to my cousin's daughter's batmitzvah. I decided to give her a cheque for £80. For reasons far too long and boring to go into here I could not make the evening party, but left a message for the hostess (my cousin's wife) and sent flowers the next day with an apology.
Rather than a call of thanks all I got was my cousin's wife (let us call her 'N') mouthing off to me on the phone, telling me how disgusting it was that I couldn't make the party ( and how much per head it cost) AND... that my cheque wasn't big enough.
I managed to cancel the cheque without charge so the outcome was that the batmitzvah girl received no money at all from me and we ended up with a massive broigus with my cousin's bitch. Sorry, I meant to type 'wife'.
