Dry cleaning bill
by Lloyd on 07 Jul 2005 : 00:12

I don't know how it happened (and I'm not going to go into great detail here) but my first cousin Jonathan held my son at his bris, and somehow, a tiny amount of blood got smeared on his suit trousers. It was both embarrassing and funny at the time and we laughed it off. Then next week he posted me a bill for the dry cleaning: £9. We thought it was a wind-up at first but he was very serious about it. We couldn't believe how petty this was, and to make it worse, the receipt was for cleaning the whole suit - not just the trousers.
There was a report in the news a few weeks ago about a lawyer earning £100k who gave his secretary a dry cleaning bill for a few pounds when she accidentally spilled ketchup on his trousers and this story - and me hearing about this web site, prompted me to write my story up.
I see my cousin every now and then and there's an uncomfortable truce between us. (I never paid him his £9).
